Dynamo Host Toronto FC at Shell Energy Stadium

Houston Dynamo FC will return to Major League Soccer (MLS) action on Saturday, August 24, when they host Toronto FC at Shell Energy Stadium. The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. CT.

The Dynamo are coming off a 1-0 loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps on August 20. Toronto FC is coming off a 2-1 win over the New England Revolution on August 21.

Toronto FC Acquire Latif Blessing from Houston Dynamo FC

In a separate transaction, Toronto FC acquired midfielder Latif Blessing from the Houston Dynamo FC in exchange for up to $275,000 in General Allocation Money.

Blessing, 26, has made 10 appearances for the Dynamo this season, scoring two goals and adding two assists.

The Dynamo and Toronto FC have met 23 times in MLS regular season play, with the Dynamo holding a 9-7-7 record.

The last meeting between the two teams was on July 20, 2019, with the Dynamo winning 3-1 at BBVA Stadium.

John Herdman Hopes Break Will Help Toronto FC

Toronto FC head coach John Herdman is hoping that the short break from action will allow his team to reset emotionally.

“We've had a tough run of games lately, so it was good to get a little bit of a break,” Herdman said. “We've been able to recharge our batteries and get our minds right.”

The Dynamo are currently in 12th place in the Western Conference with 29 points from 25 games. Toronto FC is in 13th place in the Eastern Conference with 25 points from 26 games.
