USWNT Announces Olympic Roster
18 Players Named to Compete in Paris
Head Coach Emma Hayes Unveils Team for Summer Games
WEB CHICAGO June 26 2024 - US Womens National Team head coach Emma Hayes has named the 18-player roster plus four alternates for the 2024 Paris Olympic.
The roster includes some of the biggest names in women's soccer, such as Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, and Tobin Heath. However, there are also some surprising omissions, such as Christen Press and Mallory Pugh.
Hayes said that she selected the team based on a number of factors, including current form, fitness, and experience. She also said that she wanted to create a team that was balanced in terms of age, experience, and position.
The USWNT will begin its Olympic campaign on July 22 against New Zealand. The team will also face Australia and Sweden in the group stage.
The Olympics are the pinnacle of women's soccer, and the USWNT will be looking to win its fifth gold medal. The team will face stiff competition from the likes of Germany, England, and Japan, but it will be the favorite to take home the gold.
